Interesting things in the news:
- Minneapolis High school offers online gym class
- Space Elevator Games
- Noam Chomsky: Ub3r Capitalist
- Intelligent Design proponent admits “astrology is a theory”
- UN report released in MS Word format shows edits and deletions made to document
- A new browser (based on Firefox) is available. It seems to just be a wrapper with goodies like RSS and blog updating built in.
- A new version of Open Office is available. I’d say its 90-95% as good as MS office, but 100% cheaper.
- If you don’t like the OO word processor, download Abiword, which is the first open free word processor with a grammar checker.

Have you opened a del.iciou.us account yet?
The release so far is just a front for this service (and flickr). It seems like it will be a natural front-end for “foaf-like” things …. friendster, myspace, etc.
try View > TopBar > Flickr … then type “garndt” in the search box.
(it’s the closest thing I’ve seen so far to “the web 2.0” so far)
The flickr thing is cool.
I have a del.iciou.us account, but so far when i set a favorite, it appears to be saved locally, no online.
So far I like it. There isn’t a whole lot to screw up when the guts of the browser is something that already works.
