Ok, here is something which isn’t your idle chit chat.
In 2005 I’m going to be selling my house and taking a year-long (at least) trip around the world.
..and I’m not just going to travel around the world. I’m going to document the entire trip with video, photos, and a weblog. My goal is to travel around the world and visit as many countries as I can.
This is going to be an enormous undertaking. I have so much stuff to do to prepare for this it isn’t funny.
I’ll be posting updates on the site as I prepare for the trip. I got technology to buy. Routes to plan. Websites to make.
I also welcome any and all suggestion you might have on where to go, what I should see, and how I should go about doing it.
Wish me luck….

Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan. If you hit the highlights of Central Asia I will be soooooo jealous.

You’re going off to look for Stan the Kurd, aren’t you?
When are you leaving?
I have a friend who took just such a trip, using GPS to send data into a database that then plotted his route on a map for all to see. I’m sure he’d be happy to talk to you about his experiences, if you want.
You seem to already be thinking about this, but if you are going to all of the trouble to document this so well, you should clearly be thinking about the marketing aspects of what this trip is all about — finding some kind of theme that can draw people in to the story.
Does this mean you aren’t going to finish your degree(s)?
I’m debating if I should start the trip before the next academic year starts or after. If I wait a bit longer, I’ll have more time to plan and I’ll have the degree finished. I only need one more year to get it done.
